Shane Warne Andy Murray

If you’re anything like me you probably don’t really care that much about tennis, but every now and again there’s some really good matches and I get back into it. As much as I hate to say it, Andy Murray – mainly because he might as well be a robot – has been in a few of those recently and it’s actually been really exciting to watch some of them. You could say I’ve been transfixed (had a bet with someone I could use that word twice today) by them. And another one of those was today when Murray had to face Roger Federer in the semi final of the US Open.

Murray managed to overcome him after another epic five set battle which was probably worth watching even if you don’t like tennis. I don’t know because I didn’t bother to tune into this one. What can I say? I’m not that into tennis and I didn’t even really know it was happening. Maybe I’ll tune into the final on Sunday if I’m not doing anything and actually bother to figure out what time it’s on.

There was one extra little easter egg (I think an easter egg is what nerds and gamers call a little extra non essential part of something that people ‘in the know’ will get but not everyone will understand. I’m trying to use it in this context, let me know if I pulled it off correctly) in the match though that when I heard about I thought was really funny, and that was when Australian cricket hero Shane Warne caught a ball that got hit into the crowd during the match. That’s pretty unbelievable right? What are the odds that the ball would get hit right to Australia’s favourite cricketer during the game and he would pull off a great catch and grab it? It wasn’t an easy catch either, he had to like lean over the rail to get his hands to it, but I guess if you’re a world famous cricketer then catching is probably your bread and butter. Still, what a nice little easter egg for you huh?
