This Russian Woman Killed Herself And Her Son Because Of Her Big Nostrils

Weirdest reason ever.

I don’t think I’ve ever considered plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons as I don’t really see the point. But just in case I did here’s another reason for me to reconsider, as a botched job has actually led to one Russian woman committing suicide and taking her eight-year-old son with her too.

33-year-old Anna Ozhigova was so distraught with the fact that her plastic surgery left her with oversized nostrils that she fell into depression that only ended after she jumped out of the window of her parents’ apartment in Omsk, Siberia last week. And she tragically took eight-year-old Gleb with her too.

Friends said that the fact her nostrils were oversized led to the breakdown of her marriage with her husband Oleg Ponomarev and she feared that he would gain sole custody of their child. The last straw was when he oinked at her and this drove her over the edge, resulting in the death of both her and Gleb.

A friend said that she had received the following message on social media describing her torment:

The surgeon convinced me that my nose didn’t suit me. I’m easily impressed, and he convinced me.

He was saying he would change the shape just one millimetre.

I can’t smile. My nostrils are now as big as if I was a pig, and moving apart.

My smile is now a frown because he removed muscles above my lip and changed something.

My husband is oinking when he sees me.

He’s known me for 12 years and can’t get used to me now.

I’m also having problems with my facial expressions. He says it was stupid to do this surgery.

I can’t accept the idea that I’m going to be like this forever. I have a child, and I live for him. I’m going to a psychologist.

Geez, talk about issues. I suppose if anything this story is just a sad indictment on the world’s current obsession with looking as perfect as possible. I feel sorry for this woman but killing herself and her kid definitely wasn’t the answer. In any case, RIP.
