Remember Tillman the skateboarding dog? The 10-year-old bulldog went mega viral back in 2007 after a video of him skateboarding started doing the rounds, and it ended up in an advert for iPhones and turned Tillman into an Internet legend.

Tillman’s owner sadly announced his passing this week:

My best bud Tillman passed away last night. We shared so many memories skating, surfing and hanging out together. No words can truly describe how much he’ll be missed. Thanks for all the good times, Tilly.

A sad, sad day for the Internet indeed. One of the stars of the most memorable viral videos in history, gone forever. Tillman was an Internet legend before Sick Chirpse even began, but I remember him vividly. Back in those days I was perma-stoned uni student with years of blogging in my underwear in front of me. Tillman had years of skateboarding in front of him, and now 21 million+ views later he’s gone. Watching the video again it’s really amazing what a skilled skateboarder he was. What a dude. RIP Tillman.
