Loads of debate over this incident at Craig Tara holiday park, on the outskirts of Ayr, Scotland, this week, after police blasted a knife-wielding 11-year-old with a 50,000 volt stun gun after the lad refused to put his weapon down.

Watch the footage below:

An eyewitness said:

“The boy was brandishing a knife and was repeatedly asked to drop it.

Officers were bearing down on him and it seemed like he was in panic mode. Even though the Taser was aimed at him it was still disturbing when it was actually fired.

The lad was badly shaken up and screaming out in pain and shock.”

Some people think this was completely justified whereas others are sure the police could have dealt with the situation without tasering the kid. Obviously leaving an angry child to run off in the night wielding a knife is a terrible idea, and if the police hadn’t have acted they’d have been criticised for being too afraid to take action. Fortunately they did take action, but should they have used their batons instead, or what?

Plenty of numpties out there posting things like “f*** that child, should have killed him” etc, but as usual the police are stuck in the middle having to deal with a near-impossible situation. Whatever happened to 11-year-olds playing Pokemon, eh?

A Police Scotland spokesperson said:

“Officers attended a disturbance involving an 11-year-old boy in possession of a knife at Craig Tara Caravan Park near Ayr around 11.15pm on Wednesday, 22 March.

The incident was resolved with no serious injuries. It was contained and there was no risk to the wider public.

“A Taser was discharged during this incident. As part of standard procedure, the circumstances of the incident were referred to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner.”
