An over enthusiastic Brit who appeared to be gripped by Olympic fever attempted to swim solo from France to America.

The 34 year old Brit was on holiday with his pals in Biarritz, Southern France, when he randomly decided he was going to swim to New York. After telling his friends what he was going to do, his friends (thinking he was joking) probably told him ‘Yeah sure whatever dude, you go swim to New York. It’s only 3,600 miles chap, through freezing cold waters and storms, go for it! Send us a post card when you’re there – y’twat’.

After swimming out less than a quarter of a mile to sea, the lonesome swimmer was greeted by a helicopter, a diver and a bunch of lifeguards in a (rubber) dinghy (rapidz) who persuaded him to return to shore, but only after a brief argument about his abilities to carry out the ridiculous feat, of which he was certain he could do.
