There are some celebrities out there that you’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about and you think are probably beyond reproach, but it turns out that these people don’t exist because almost universally loved good guy Morgan Freeman is the latest one to be accused of being a creep and sexually harassing women on the set of his films and those who worked for his production company.

There are several stories mentioned in the piece by CNN, with the main story revolving around a production assistant on his 2015 movie ‘Going In Style’. Here’s what she had to say:

[Freeman] kept trying to lift up my skirt and asking if I was wearing underwear.

Alan [Arkin] made a comment telling him to stop. Morgan got freaked out and didn’t know what to say.

This kind of story has been reinforced by the claims of several other women. One woman who was a senior member of production staff on 2012 movie ‘Now You See It’ said the following:

He did comment on our bodies… We knew that if he was coming by […] not to wear any top that would show our breasts, not to wear anything that would show our bottoms, meaning not wearing clothes that [were] fitted.

There are several other similar stories in the CNN story that broke the news, with most women saying that it was common knowledge that Freeman acted this way around women all the time. Can’t believe he’s such a gross dude, but I guess there’s no reason whatsoever for so many women to lie about this so it must be true. What an absolute letdown of a guy.

Freeman was quick to respond to the allegations, issuing a statement that said the following:

Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy.

I apologise to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected – that was never my intent.

I mean, that’s hardly saying that he didn’t do it is it? More like saying ‘yeah I did it but it was just jokes, sorry’. Whilst pulling up a girl’s skirt and being a creep hardly ranks on the same scale as what people like Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey have been doing, it’s still far from acceptable behaviour so hopefully Freeman will get called out by this and face the consequences for his actions and it won’t all get swept under the table. Here’s hoping.

For more of the same, check out a long list of allegations that have been levelled at those in power in Hollywood in the last six months or so. It’s a really long list.
