Although we were blessed with an abundance of horror movies last year, we haven’t really seen that many drop this year.

Sure, we had The Witch a couple of weeks ago but that was the kind of horror movie that’s really uncomfortable to watch because it just builds a study sense of dread for an hour before some really horrible stuff happens, but what I’m really talking about is a movie that’s going to scare the shit out of you all the way through it. Lights Out could be that movie.
From the trailer below, it seems to revolve around some kind of ghost/creature that you can’t see when the lights are on, so you can only ever make out its shadow when the lights are off. As such, it’s absolutely terrifying and even the trailer will probably make you jump a few times:
Told you didn’t I? With James Wan involved – he was responsible for the first Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring – you know that it’s probably going to freak you out and crank up the tension to 11. It’s not out here until August 19th, so you’ll have a while to buy some fresh underwear in preparation.
In the meantime, why not check out one of these awesome horror movies from last year to tide you over. Or the original two minute short that Lights Out is actually based on?
