Joe Lycett put brains in pretzels when he came out as ‘incredibly right wing’ on Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg last weekend, with some viewers unsure whether the comedian was being sincere or satirical during his appearance on the BBC show.

Have a look for yourself and see if you can figure it out:

I like how they’re trying to stress to him that it’s a very serious situation. Has anyone tried doing the same with the actual people in charge? In any case, the whole thing seems to have worked out pretty well for Joe, who announced that his ticket sales are booming since he came out as right wing:

It’s pretty interesting to think why the BBC invited Lycett on the panel in the first place. He’s a comedian – of course he’s going to take the p*ss! Maybe they realised the absurdity of the current political situation as much as the rest of us, so that’s what they were going for. Even if it was sabotaging their own host a little bit.

One Tory MP wasn’t happy about it, that’s for sure:

In another interview on Monday, Lycett revealed that Truss had had a “face like a slapped a**e” off-camera after his chat with Kuenssberg, while he continued his charade with Jeremy Vine and insisted: “I’m a big Liz Truss supporter, I think she’s the absolute best that we’re capable of – she’s Thatcher 2.0 and I’m nostalgic for Thatcher.”

This comes a couple months after someone called the police on Lycett because he made a joke about donkey penises at his comedy show. Oh the humanity…!
