‘Roadhouse’ might not be up there with the dumbest 80s movies of all time, but Patrick Swayze’s film about a mysterious bouncer who protects a roadside bar from a corrupt businessman definitely has a spot in the conversation thanks to the ridiculous fight scenes and dumb one liners and outrageous plot.

There has been talk of a remake for years – at one point Ronda Rousey was supposed to be taking over the main role I believe – and now it looks like it’s finally going to happen with Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor himself starring in it. Gyllenhaal will take over Swayze’s role – although the action will be moved from Missouri to the much sexier Florida Keys – and it’s unknown who McGregor will play at this point, but it’s definitely going to be an original character and not himself.

To make things a bit meatier and modern, Gyllenhaal’s bouncer will also be a former UFC fighter which is so cringe and lol but also completely perfect for this kind of movie. Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge Of Tomorrow’ is also attached to direct so it actually sounds like this could be a half decent movie.

Jake G doesn’t usually show up for too many duds and I imagine everyone will be playing it for laughs and cheese on this one so I think it’s gone work. Gonna be a while before it sees the light of day on Amazon Prime, but I think it’s something to look forward to in the future.

In the meantime, here’s Jake Gyllenhaal saying that he doesn’t think bathing is necessary. What?
