The action of inhaling and exhaling the vapor produced by an electronic cigarette or similar device, also known as vaping, has taken the world by the storm. It’s relatively new so there are not enough studies or researches based on long-term using that could help determine the real nature of this practice.

While scientists gather evidence, questions regarding vaping effects pale up: are there dangerous consequences of regular using, is it a better solution than smoking, is it a drug?

E-cigarettes are available on the market for over a decade so the general public can start shaping opinion.

Vape devices and liquids

Hearing that someone is vaping to relieve the pain, during recovery from some illness, can raise an eyebrow. With a short amount of time and minimum effort, anyone can collect information about devices, vaping liquids and oils or evolution of vaping technology. Vaporizers have come a long way since 2003 when it all started. Today, the fourth-generation vape devices can be found on the market, available in different forms such as pens, sticks, kits, hookahs, and even desktop vaporizers. Some of them have advanced features created for the purpose of customizing and personalizing the vaping experience. The principle of working is simple: the liquid or oil gets heated in the vaporizer, and the result of the process is aerosol, which is inhaled by the user.

Vaping liquids, also known as vape juices or e-liquids, have to match the device and style of vaping. Consumers can choose between nicotine-free and nicotine-based e-liquids, produced with the addition of other ingredients such as flavorings, vegetable glycerin and more. Others prefer vaping oils, also available in different forms: as an essential oil like lavender or peppermint for example or hemp oil which contains very little amount of marijuana. Marijuana oil has a certain concentration of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC),while CBD oil (short for cannabidiol) may or may not contain THC. Basically, this means that CBD oil can have a less psychoactive influence on users, compared to marijuana oil. Using these types of oils requires more detailed information, and potential consumers can find them under the “Best CBD Vape Juices of 2019: CBD Oils Review” and similartitles.

Can vaping be useful?

Although the scientists will remain uncertain of health risks associated with vaping for at least few more years, in 2016, UK based study revealed that “e-cigarettes are only one of a range of quit smoking aids”. The general opinion is that vaping is less harmful than smoking and smokers who replace cigarettes for vaping will considerably reduce exposure to toxic substances and probably lower their blood pressure. Nevertheless, due to a suspicion that vaping is not totally harm-free, people who start vaping to quit smoking should eventually stop vaping as well.

Mental health is a hard subject to discuss and extremely difficult to cover when vaping is concerned. Some experts think that these two should never be connected in any way because there is no scientific method to predict how people will react to vaping when they are not mentally stable.  However, there are people who claim that vaping helps them with anxiety, depression, and stress. There are users who think that there is no need to use nicotine-based, hemp, marijuana oil or cbd oil vape juice whatsoever. According to their experience, the process of vaping itself and the type of breathing in rhythmic inhales and slow exhales lowers the stress and anxiety.

People have used CBD for centuries to treat pain, but the medical community has only recently begun to consider the possibility of using CBD oil vapefor pain management purpose. Another study published by NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information) conducted on rats with arthritis, showed a significantly lower level of inflammation and reduction in pain, without additional side effects. Some patients stated that this type of vaping helped them during severe pain treatment for migraines, back pain, and headaches.

Muscle spasms followed by constant pain are one of the most common symptoms of Multiple sclerosis (MS) and are also present in cases with spinal cord injuries. There is insufficient evidence to make any statement about the efficacy of cannabinoids as a treatment for cancer or tumor, and the same goes for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease or epilepsy. Nevertheless, some signals that come from the preclinical literature suggest that clinical research with cannabinoids treatments for these illnesses needs to be conducted.Apparently, CBD vape can be used successfully to treat pain for some of the most serious diagnoses including chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.

To vape or not to vape?

Although there are people who think that vaping can help them to overcome some problems or a situation, vaping is still related to the health risks by many. Research published in March 2019 indicates that “most e-cigarettes contain and emit potentially toxic but highly variable substances”. Inhalation of these substances can have an effect on the lungs and cardiovascular system. It doesn’t matter is it a nicotine-free e-liquid or CBD vape juice, the danger of having some difficulties withinflammation and obstruction of the bronchioles, which is directly connected to the shortness of breath, seemingly exists.

However, another research based on a survey of approximately 449,000 participants found no significant association between e-cigarette use and heart disease. What they found out is that people who smoked both conventional and e-cigarettes could potentially and more likely have health issues, especially heart disease.

So, if you want to vape, what should you do? There are a few things that you can do, to make sure that your vaping is the safest possible. First of all, do it only if you are an adult. Then, find out as much as you can about vaping and be aware of the potential risk. Also, try to buy a device and e-liquid or oil from reputable suppliers and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations to avoid malfunction or even injury. There is a huge difference between some unknown, questionable oil and the best CBD vape oil, available on the market. Try to use high-quality products and most importantly, use them carefully and in moderation.
