Heinz Is Releasing Its New ‘Fish And Chips Sauce’ And It’s A Real Game Changer

If you had told me a couple of weeks ago – or even a couple of years ago – that Heinz would be emailing me claiming me that they had created a revolutionary new sauce for fish and chips that was going to change the game, then I would have thought a couple of things.

Firstly, that it was highly unlikely that they would be able to improve on the classic tartare sauce combination – as it really does pair with the classic British staple of a fish and chip supper better than anything else out there – and secondly that Heinz probably could have come up with a better name for it than the hyper generic ‘Fish And Chips Sauce’. And I probably also would have semi-ignored said claims because of these reasons as it just didn’t sound like it was going to be that good, despite their well crafted PR email.

However, all I needed to do was to taste the Fish And Chips Sauce and be well and truly blown away. it’s hard to describe but it sort of has everything you want from tartare sauce but it also has a tangy kick to it and you squeeze it out of a bottle like it’s mayonnaise too, so it’s also really smooth. The danger with some types of tartare sauce is that it’s just completely disgusting if whoever’s making it gets it wrong, but I don’t feel like you’re ever going to have this problem with the ‘Fish And Chips Sauce’ because it comes in a plastic bottle and is squeezed out and I don’t think I’ve ever had a problem with that format in the past. Whereas sometimes spooning out tartare sauce out of a jar can make you feel sick before you’ve even dipped your fish into it because it’s so lumpy and gross looking. Really does feel like this could be a gamechanger if enough people get behind it.

If you’re wondering what’s in the sauce itself, all we’ve been told so far is that it blends gherkins, onions, and fragrant herbs like parsley and dill. It’s available now from Heinz at Home and Tescos all over the country though, priced at just £3.39, so what’s stopping you from going and getting a bottle yourself for this week’s Fish Friday? I can’t recommend it highly enough.

For more of the same, check out Heinz’s new sriracha ketchup. Seems like they’re determined to change the game here.
