I don’t think anyone actually though that Guy Ritchie’s return to his London crime roots ‘The Gentleman’ was going to be any good when it was released back in 2019, but it turned out to be a pretty fun romp that was well worth the price of admission.

Now the movie is following in the footsteps of another Ritchie favourite as it’s been picked up for its own TV show on Netflix (‘Lock, Stock’ was a TV series on Channel 4 briefly back in the late 90s/early 00s’). Here’s what we know so far about it all:

Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Giancarlo Esposito, Peter Serafinowicz and Vinnie Jones (!) will star in new series The Gentlemen, from creator Guy Ritchie.

Ritchie will serve as creator, co-writer and executive producer of the series that is set in the world of the film of the same name, but not starring the original characters. He’ll also direct the first two episodes.

That’s a pretty impressive cast he’s managed to assemble there and to be fair, Ritchie loves writing caper films about the comedy London underworld so I’m sure that this will be a fairly successful foray for everyone involved. No news on the release date yet but I think the earliest we would be getting it would be the end of next year so don’t get too excited just yet.

For more of the same, check out the movie he’s just made about WWII Black Ops. Sounds pretty good as well.
