‘The Simpsons’ has to be one of the longest running cartoons of all time, originally hitting TV screens back in 1987. 28 years, 28 seasons and over 600 episodes later, the show is still going strong, and there’s not one household that doesn’t recognise this animated family.

To celebrate the history of the show, here are the ten of the best lines from ‘The Simpsons’ as ranked by the Metro:

Lisa The Iconoclast: Season 7, Episode 16

You’re banned from this historical society.

You and your children, and your children’s children… for three months.

Natural Born Kissers: Season 9, Episode 25

Priceless like a mother’s love, or the good kind of priceless?

Sweet Seymour Skinner’s Baadasssss Song: Season 5, Episode 19

Oh, I have had it, I have had it with this school, Skinner!

The low test scores, class after class of ugly, ugly children!

New Kid On The Block: Season 4, Episode 8

This is the most blatant case of fraudulent advertising since my suit against the film The Neverending Story.

Boy-Scoutz ‘n The Hood: Season 5, Episode 8

Weaseling out of things is important to learn.

It’s what separates us from the animals … except the weasel.

Marge Be Not Proud: Season 7, Episode 11

Shoplifting is a victimless crime, like punching someone in the dark.

Scenes From The Class Struggle In Springfield: Season 7, Episode 14

Maybe, just once, someone will call me Sir, without adding, ‘You’re making a scene’.

Burns’ Heir: Season 5, Episode 18

Kids, you tried your best, and you failed miserably.

The lesson is, never try.

Lisa On Ice: Season 6, Episode 8

Me fail English? That’s unpossible.

Homer Vs. The Eighteenth Amendment: Season 8, Episode 18

To alcohol! The cause of… and solution to… all of life’s problems.

Brilliant. A personal favourite has to be, “Shoplifting is a victimless crime, like punching someone in the dark.” I’ve learned most of my life lessons and morals from ‘The Simpsons’.
