George Galloway is being accused of “blatant homophobia” after saying in a recent interview that he believes gay relationships are not ‘normal’ and that he doesn’t want kids to be taught about gender identity and homosexuality in schools.

The Rochdale MP told Novara Media founder Aaron Bastani that he did not want children in the UK to be taught that “some things are normal when their parents don’t believe that they’re normal”.

“I want my children to be taught that the normal thing in Britain, in society across the world, is a mother, a father and a family.”

“Three of my children go to a Catholic school in Scotland, so they have some protections for the moment. My other two school children are taught in England things that I don’t want them to be taught.”

Galloway went on to say he wants to teach his children that LGBTQ+ people exist and “must be treated with respect… but I don’t want my children to be taught that these things are equal because I don’t believe them to be equal”.

“Apart from anything else, the human race would no longer exist if it was normal… it would be the end of humanity.”

“If my children are taught that there’s – whatever the current vogue number is – 76 or 97, or whatever the number of purported genders that exist, I don’t want my children taught that.”

Controversial stuff indeed. I guess many parents will be wary about certain aspects of gender identity and gender expression that are taught in schools, but to hear prominent British MP George Galloway straight up say that he thinks homosexuality is ‘not normal’ is quite surprising. When was the last time a British politician made comments like this so publicly?

Then again, maybe it’s not that surprising. George Galloway has already wound up loads of people over the years with his views on Brexit, immigration, Russia/Ukraine and transgenderism. But then he’s also pro-Palestine and considers himself a socialist. Is it at least a bit refreshing to see a British politician with some nuance, even if you might consider some of his views completely reprehensible?

Well anyway, let’s round this one up with the obligatory George Galloway cat video:
