Remember the Friends episode where Phoebe’s mum came back as a cat? Well, the actress who played Janice in the show is convinced something similar happened to her as she recently described being visited by a hawk.

Maggie Wheeler, who played Chandler’s annoying, nasally-voiced love interest in the show, told the Still Here Hollywood podcast this week:

“Lots of people talk about spirits showing up as birds and, you know, other things that kind of send a message when someone passes,” said Wheeler, who also lost her brother to addiction. “And after Matthew died, I was in a neighbor’s pool, and I was alone, and there was nobody else around. And I was on my back, and I was thinking about my brother. And I said, you know, ‘Look out for him,’ and two hawks flew over my head and flew past me. One circled around and came and got the other one, and it flew past me. So that was a beautiful moment, if you go for that kind of stuff.”

Well, I’m not sure I personally “go for that kind of stuff.” After all, there’s loads of hawks flying around up there around those Los Angeles mansions. But it does sound like it was a nice moment and that’s fair enough for her to say.

Now if she had said that the hawk was being sarcastic and condescending and irritated by her presence, then I might actually be more convinced that it was the spirit of Matthew Perry paying her a visit. But as it is, I can’t say I believe there’s any connection between this random hawk and Matthew Perry, but it’s perfectly normal for a grieving person to make that connection as a way to find comfort and to grieve as well.

P.S. Would have been good for the podcast host to ask if Wheeler said “Oh… My… God” in her classic Janice voice when it happened, but I guess it was probably more of  a muted and reflective moment. Never forget:

For the time comedian Hans Kim went viral for making a controversial joke about Matthew Perry shortly after he did, click HERE. Have to admit – that was funny.
