French president Emmanual Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and German opposition leader Friedrich Menz were on a train from Poland to Ukraine the other day, when reporters entered their cabin and caught Macron and Menz shuffling a couple of items out of view.

It wasn’t long before the clip went viral, with social media users claiming that Macron was concealing a bag of cocaine and Menz was hiding a coke spoon. Watch the clip for yourself below and see what you think:

In fairness, if Keir Starmer was caught banging out a few lines while smashing some Carling and talking about how he’s going KO Vladimir Putin, it would probably be quite the vote winner for him. Still, I don’t think anyone who’s serious genuinely believes that he, Macron and Menz were actually having a sesh on this train to Ukraine, right? At least not going off the “evidence” of this clip.

Even still, the rumours were spreading like wildfire on social media and so the French press has had to come out and defend the leaders, claiming there is “no evidence” to support the claims. Media outlet Libération says the item Macron grabbed was a handkerchief, and the item Merz had was a “stirrer.”

On closer inspection, it appears they are correct:

Élysée, the official X handle of the French presidency, also rejected the claim. “When European unity becomes inconvenient, disinformation goes so far as to make a simple tissue look like drugs. This fake news is being spread by France’s enemies, both abroad and at home. We must remain vigilant against manipulation,” the caption of the post read.

Which was probably a disappointment for Zelenskyy, who they were on their way to visit. Either way, a pretty poor attempt by Russia. They’re usually a lot better at the misinformation thing.
