Elon Musk has been involved in a weird beef with the BBC recently after he slapped a ‘government-funded media’ label on their Twitter account, which the BBC took exception to as they are funded by the British public (never mind the blatant influence/pressure the government puts over their editorial content).

So it was pretty surprising to see Elon accept a sit-down interview with the BBC’s James Clayton this week, although it turns out he came prepared for the inevitable disagreements …

Well, it could be that there has been a rise in hateful content since Elon purchased the platform for 44 billion dollars (£35.7 billion) in October, but if you’re going to bring that up in a live interview, surely you should come with at least one or two examples? Poor form by James Clayton there who is now being dragged across social media in countless ‘Elon OWNS BBC reporter’ style clips. Which is exactly the kind of stuff Elon Musk’s wet dreams are made of.

Surprisingly, Elon has now agreed to change the BBC’s account label to ‘publicly-funded’ instead, so I guess some sort of peace was made during his visit to their HQ. Elsewhere in the interview, Elon said Twitter had “four months to live” when he bought the platform and insisted he needed to sack 80% of its employees to save it from bankruptcy. He also described owning Twitter as ‘painful’, and ‘really quite a stressful situation.’ Sure seems like it.

Wonder if he’s dealt with Gary Lineker’s request to him yet?
