In a move that will no doubt inspire plenty of calm, friendly, and level-headed debate in comment sections around the internet, Elliot Page has shared a topless selfie to the celebrate ‘the joy’ he feels in his body after transitioning to male.

Elliot, who played Kitty Pryde in the X-Men movies and also had lead roles in Juno and Hard Candy, shared the selfie on IG this week alongside a message of positivity:

‘Dysphoria used to be especially rife in the summer. No layers, just a T-shirt – or layers and oh so sweaty – constantly looking down, readjusting my oversized T.

It feels so f’ing good soaking in the sun now, I never thought I could experience this, the joy I feel in my body.

I am so grateful for what gender affirming care has allowed me and I look forward to sharing more of my journey soon. #transjoy.’

Well it’s always nice to see any human being happy in their own skin, isn’t it? Even if it takes a few teeny, tiny surgical procedures to get there. I don’t really want to get into the whole trans debate because it’s more trouble than it’s worth, but it seems to me Page was someone who genuinely did suffer from gender dysphoria, and this isn’t just some fad they caught onto or a decision they took lightly.

On how transitioning changed his life, Page had previously told Seth Meyers in an interview:

‘It’s improved my life drastically, and I hope that people who do have an issue with me could try and hear that and embrace that on some level.

What I want to focus on right now, and has been so extraordinary, is the degree of joy that I feel, the degree of presence that I feel.

I feel a way that I really never thought possible for a long, long time. That’s really what I’m focusing on and embracing the most.’

Now all Elliot Page has to do is hit the gym in preparation for that rumoured Superman role. That’s still happening, isn’t it?
