Is seems Dove might be in a spot of trouble this morning as many internet users wake up to see their latest ad campaign splattered across the front of many well know blogs. The ad features three ladies with different shades of skin and the unfortunate mis-placement of the words ‘Before’ and ‘After’ above them, kind of giving the impression that Dove body wash will turn you from black to white, whoops!

Check the ad out for yourself below and see it here on Dove’s official site.

Gawker wrote to Dove to question them about the ad, this was their reply:

“We believe that real beauty comes in many shapes, sizes, colors and ages and are committed to featuring realistic and attainable images of beauty in all our advertising. We are also dedicated to educating and encouraging all women and girls to build a positive relationship with beauty, to help raise self-esteem and to enable them to realize their full potential.

The ad is intended to illustrate the benefits of using Dove VisibleCare Body Wash, by making skin visibly more beautiful in just one week. All three women are intended to demonstrate the “after” product benefit. We do not condone any activity or imagery that intentionally insults any audience.”

Now I know that Dove obviously weren’t trying to be racist in any way shape or form, I just reckon they should have thought about the placement of the words on the ads a tiny bit more so everyone didn’t jump at the conclusion that that were trying to brain wash us all with their evil subliminal messages.
