Very sad news today as Duane ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’ Chapman’s step-grandson has been accidentally shot and killed by his father in a tragic accident.
The 78-year-old reality TV star is mourning after his stepson Gregory Zecca, 38, allegedly shot and killed his 13-year-old son Anthony.
Dog is actually not related to Anthony or Gregory, who his wife Francie shares with her late husband. So essentially this is the story of a random dad who shot his son, and the media only really cares because the shooter’s step-dad is Dog the Bounty Hunter.
In a statement to TMZ, a spokesperson for Dog and Francie said: ‘We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.’
We all know that gun culture in the United States is completely out of control, and it’s never more apparent than when someone accidentally shoots a child dead, as is tragically the case with this story. Americans use every excuse under the sun in order to justify why guns are so prevalent in their country, but is it really worth all the mass shootings, gang violence, and accidental deaths that happen each and every year?
Thus far, no one has been arrested in relation to young Anthony’s death, but the investigation is ongoing. I guess there’s no real need to put a man in handcuffs after he’s just accidentally killed his son in a senseless tragedy, but you also have to wonder whether there’ll be further repercussions forthcoming.
Dog, who has 13 children, married Francie following the death of ex-wife and co-star Beth. He revealed how Francie helped him get over her death.
He said: ‘I am a fixer. I have to catch bad guys. I got to be at the top of my game. I can’t feel sorry for myself or guilty.
‘I got to go out there and make a difference. That’s what I do for a living so I’ve got to man up. She helps me do that.’
RIP Anthony and thoughts with the family at this time. Shout out Leland, too. That guy was an absolute legend.
