Doctors Cure 6-Year-Old Cancer Patient By Injecting Her With HIV

6-year-old Emily Whitehead’s doctors decided to fight fire with fire when running out of options to successfully treat Emily’s leukaemia, and decided to inject her with a derivative of HIV to activate her body’s immune defence system.

“It’s a procedure where we collect the patient’s cells and they’re infected with a virus that will genetically change them so that they will now see and react against leukaemia cells,” said Dr. Porter of the University of Pennsylvania. “The virus has been altered so that it can’t cause the disease anymore.”
