A few weeks ago the Internet lost its mind (for the seventh time that week) when apparently girls suddenly became all about the dadbod (re: ‘The dad bod says, “I go to the gym occasionally, but I also drink heavily on the weekends and enjoy eating eight slices of pizza at a time.” It’s not an overweight guy, but it isn’t one with washboard abs, either.’) and ripped guys couldn’t believe it and neither could guys with actual dadbods either.
Obviously there has been a great deal of confusion about the whole situation and nobody really knew if the whole dadbod thing was real or just another example of excellent Internet trolling. The Daily Mail (who else?) decided to try and get to the bottom of it by hiring dating expert Hayley Quinn (sorry about all the brackets in this post but what the hell is a dating expert? Surely if you go on a ton of dates you can’t actually be that good at them!?) to step out into the London streets with three different looking men to find out which one random girls thought were more attractive.
There was a tall thin guy, a slightly pudgier guy (classic dadbod) and a muscular personal trainer. Now, you would probably expect most of the girls to pick the muscular personal trainer right? Well, check out the video and see what happens but it looks like the dadbod might actually be a real trend going on right now. And if that’s the case, then that’s definitely a good thing and not only because I’ve got one, but more because it’s one step closer to body acceptance for everyone of all shapes and sizes in our culture.
