If you were to look at some of the NFL players’ salaries on any of the top NFL stats pages around, you’d probably have to take a moment to take it all in. Yes, when you make it big in the NFL, the salaries can add up to sums of money that not many people in day to day living could think about making in a year, unless you are friends with Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg or Elon Musk. But when we say “make it big”, what do we mean by that? We’re not talking about players that can make a cool million a year, or that have some respectful salaries in the league. Don’t get me wrong, anybody working a 9-5 to job would love to have any of those salaries, but here we’re talking about the players that can brag about making bank.

So, in order to clarify said doubt, we bring you our list counting down the highest paid NFL players in actuality, be it because of their contract gains, annual salary, incentives and more. Get ready because we are about to talk about some serious money right now.

Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys

It was in March 2021 when the Dallas Cowboys decided to make one of the biggest splashes in the pro football market in years when they decided to sign their franchise QB Dak Prescott to a 4 year, $160 million contract, that coming along with a hefty $66 million signing bonus. While he has already collected a vast majority of his bonus as well as receiving a whopping $40 million dollars per year, as contemplated in his contract, that automatically makes him the highest paid football player in the world with a salary of almost $69 million for the season that’s just finishing taking into account his salary plus the bonus and other playing bonuses he was awarded from his playing in the 2021 season.

Trent Williams, OT, San Francisco 49ers

With a salary of just over $31 million in 2021, the Niners star offensive tackle Trent Williams is still to this day the highest paid offensive lineman in the history of the NFL. After signing a six-year, $138,06 million contract with a yearly salary of $23 million and a signing bonus of $30.1 million that were paid over three different installments, the last one coming in Halloween of 2021, Williams can brag about not only having the biggest contract for any offensive lineman in the league but also the highest salary and the highest signing bonus ever. If anything, it pays to be gigantic and dominant while protecting your QB.

Tom Brady, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Could anybody in their right minds make a list about highest paid players in the NFL and not have Tom Brady, aka the GOAT of pro football in the list? I honestly don’t think so. With a yearly salary in 2021 of just under $30 million, Brady continues to win on and off the field like it was nobody’s business. While nowadays Brady lives by the rule of signing continuous one-year contract extensions, like the one he signed in 2021 that bagged him a cool $20 million signing bonus amongst other incentives that he’ll be receiving by February, he is one of those players that you don’t really argue about salary earnings, you just pay the man, because yes, he’s that good.

Leonard Williams, DE, New York Giants

After spending his last two seasons with the franchise tag from the New York Giants, defensive end Leonard Williams managed to sign a staggering three-year $66 million contract with $45 million guaranteed in full, including a juicy $22,5 million signing bonus. While these numbers might not amount to much, especially when we’ve seen what some of the league’s top defensive players have managed to make, this is still the highest-paying contract that the New York Giants have ever signed. With a yearly salary in 2021 of just over $26 million Williams has already cashed out the entirety of his signing bonus and it seems like he’ll continue to rake in the big bucks as the years go by and he solidifies himself even more as a leader in the Giants’ defensive core.
