As if 2020 hasn’t been one of the most ridiculous and weird years of all time – honestly there are so many stupid events that have happened during it that you would be forgiven for forgetting half of them or already thinking that we were living in a mockumentary/computer simulation – Charlie Brooker has decided to make it even stupider by creating an actual mockumentary about it for Netflix.

There aren’t too many details about the project available yet, other than the fact that Hugh Grant will be appearing in it as a historian. Here’s what Grant had to say about it to The New Yorker:

Charlie Brooker has written a mockumentary about 2020. It’s for Netflix.

I will be playing a historian who’s being interviewed about the year.

I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig.

Not really sure that we’re going to need that much more info about it to know that it’s probably going to be awesome. Hopefully it doesn’t drop for a while though because I think we need everything to be back to normal before we can fully appreciate it and look back on the events of this year and laugh about it. Anything too soon might be a bit too much, especially if we’re in another lockdown when it drops on Netflix. Can you imagine?

For more of the same, check out Charlie saying the world is too depressed for new ‘Black Mirror’. Makes sense he would do a mockumentary instead then hey?
