I think it’s fair to say that we’re well and truly into a summer heatwave at the moment – someone told me it’s the sunniest it’s been since 1977 the other day – and the only real way to deal with this is to crack open some cold ones and kick back, preferably by a pool or in the shade or something.
Whilst cracking open cans of beer probably comes naturally to most of us, Brixton Brewery has realised that there are those of us that may be worried about that we might rip a nail during the process and have decided to team up with local nail bar Brixton Klaws – artist to the likes of PinkPantheress, FKA twigs and Jazzelle Zanaughtti – to develop the Canicure to prevent any damage from occurring. You simply place this lightning bolt shaped device over onto one of your fingers, and either end of it can be placed underneath the ring pull and used to crack it open without any risk of chipping your nail polish or breaking your acrylics. In addition to this, it also looks completely cool and badass as you do it.

There’s an undeniable energy in Brixton; bold, dynamic, and full of character. I wanted to capture that electricity in every element, from the Brixton Brewery lightning bolt Canicure ring design to the overall aesthetic of the nail art.
The iconic architecture and spirit of the area really inspired the balance of its form and function. Sustainability was also key for me, so I worked with local London-based artists to ensure everything, from printing to fulfilment, was as responsible and thoughtful as possible.
