If there’s one thing we’ve learned from the spate of British nationals being busted for drug-smuggling in 2025, it’s that if you’re a young female, you’ve got a reasonably higher chance of being let off with a slap on the wrist. Bonus points if you’re conventionally attractive, and a mother.
Cameron Bradford, 21, from Knebworth, Hertfordshire, was caught with 20 kilograms of cannabis in her luggage at Munich Airport in Germany, having travelled from Bangkok, Thailand.
Munich District Court heard how Cameron had worked as an escort for a man in the UK who threatened her into going to Thailand to pick something up for him.
Authorities became suspicious when she changed her flight to London Heathrow via Singapore at the last minute – stopping over in Munich instead. That is ridiculously suspicious, to be fair. I mean, why would anyone do that?
Cameron claimed she had no idea about the contents of her suitcase (obviously!), which was locked.
The judge said he found this ‘strange’ i.e. did not believe her, but accepted that she had been pressured into it by her pimp in the UK.
Ultimately, Cameron was lucky that the judge was sympathetic to her, but also that Germany legalised cannabis for recreational use in 2024. Obviously smuggling it into the country is still illegal, but she’s definitely fortunate that she was busted in Germany, rather than say, Georgia (as another female Brit recently found out).
Being a young, single mum was almost certainly a mitigating factor also.
Some people might complain about how unfair it is and how it reeks of privilege, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t help anyone to have a young 21-year-old girl locked up in a German prison for a couple years, while her young child is back home in Blighty being raised without a mum.
Besides, she’ll have definitely learned her lesson now after being caught, and her pimp wouldn’t be dense enough to send her on another drug run. At least, you’d hope so anyway.
For the two girls from Birmingham who also avoided jail time after smuggling 35KG into the country from New York, click HERE. Very lucky indeed.
