A couple running a beauty clinic in Cambodia have been arrested over the murder of South Korean influencer Byun Ah-Yeong, who went by the public persona ‘BJ Ahyeong’.

The body of Ahyeong – a K-pop DJ with 260,000 followers on IG –  was discovered wrapped in a red rug in a ditch in the country’s Kandal province, on the outskirts of the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh, last week.

A Chinese couple have been charged with her murder, after the 33-year-old was last seen alive at the beauty clinic they run. The couple told investigators that Ahyeong started having seizures and died while receiving an unspecified treatment by them, and so they panicked and disposed of her body in fear of punishment.

That doesn’t seem too likely though, given Ahyeong’s neck was broken and her body was covered in bruises when it was discovered by locals, wrapped in a rug in a ditch. Then again, officers said they’re still waiting for the post-mortem to determine whether Ahyeong suffered the injuries before she died or the bones were broken and bruised when the corpse was disposed of.

Here’s the guilty-looking couple, Lai Wenshao, 30, and his girlfriend Cai Huijuan, 39:

The Chinese couple have now been charged with ‘murder accompanied by torture’.

What’s really dark is that BJ Ahyeong, who hosted AfreecaTV – a South Korean video-streaming service – recently announced she was taking a step back from social media, and now weeks later she’s ended up in the biggest news story of her life because two psychos in Cambodia decided to murder her, for whatever reason.

RIP Byun Ah-Yeong. MailOnline actually published a photo of her body wrapped in the rug, which seems a bit f***ed up, but then what d’you expect really?

Thoughts with Ahyeong’s friends and family and let’s hope justice is done once the full facts are out.
