A police organisation has mocked anti-cop rapper Macklemore after police were called during a robbery at his home in Seattle, Washington.

The ‘Thrift Shop’ rapper’s home was broken into over the weekend by two masked men who attacked the nanny with bear spray and then ransacked the place. According to the police report, the break-in happened after the nanny had put the kids to bed on the second floor. She was then on the main floor when she saw two men in masks, black clothing, tactical vests and gloves, break in through the patio door.

After being sprayed with bear mace, the nanny legged it from the house and ran to a neighbour’s place to call the police.

It’s unclear if Macklemore, who has a history of expressing anti-police sentiment and refers to them as ‘actors with badges’, was at home at the time.

Either way, the Fraternal Order of Police in Glendale, Ariz., were sure to point out the irony:

The Tweet is in reference to Macklemore’s track “Hind’s Hall”, which contains the lyrics: “F*ck the police/Actors in badges protecting property and a system that was designed by white supremacy.”

I suppose that’s the issue with being so staunchly anti-police; one day you might need them and are going to look very silly for talking about them like they serve no purpose in society.

Although in fairness to Macklemore, it was his nanny who called 911, and not him. I wonder how he feels about that? Surely he would have done the same thing, especially with his three kids at home while these masked man are ransacking the place?

All in all, the suspects took “thousands of dollars” worth of jewelry, watches and shoes, and also took the nanny’s phone. The Seattle Times reports that the children were not hurt, so that’s good.

As of yet Macklemore has not commented on the incident. Will be interesting to see what he has to say about it, if anything at all. Maybe he’ll ask the police not to investigate further, and to let the suspects go free? That would be somewhat consistent, at least.
