Traditionally, most parents abuse their kids with belts, slippers and kitchen appliances, not by anonymously harassing, bullying and catfishing them online.

It being 2022 and all, that appears to have been the preferred method of Michigan mum Kendra Licari, 42, who was arrested last week after authorities found she created an online persona to torment her daughter and the girl’s then-boyfriend, according to the Morning Sun.

Licari even attempted to frame another classmate of the teens for the harassment, and worked alongside the mother of the boyfriend to find the source of the cyberbullying. Diabolical stuff…

Over the course of the investigation, authorities compiled 349 pages of harassing texts and social media messages from the mum. I guess Licari had never heard of a VPN because the messages were eventually traced back to IP addresses linked to her, prompting a full confession when police turned up to arrest her.

Licari faces up to 10 years in prison for the computer crimes charges, and five years for stalking and obstruction. Her motive has yet to be determined, but I can’t help but think this is just one symptom of a much larger problem. I mean, there’s no way this woman is an otherwise decent mum who just happened to lead a year-long anonymous harassment campaign against her own daughter and her boyfriend, right? It’s like some kind of twisted psychological version of Munchausen-by-proxy syndrome; where a parent will poison their child so that they are sick all the time.

Poor kid. To go through the bullying and harassment in the first place is bad enough, but to find out it’s your own parent? Gonna have some next level trust issues after that. Good luck to her.
