‘People Shout Seagull Eater At Me In The Street After Far Right Lies’ – Woman Accused Of Hunting Seagull Speaks Out
A Muslim lady who rescued a baby seagull and was then accused of catching it for food has spoken out after the clip and the accompanying lie went viral.
Nora Mubarak was filmed as she tried to save a baby seagull that had fallen from its rooftop nest in Grimsby.
After she saw the men filming, she went up to them in their van and explained to them that she was rescuing the bird and trying to return it to its mum, but they cut that part out of the video before sharing it online…

The clip was shared by Oliver Freeston, the Reform UK leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, and Tommy Robinson (obviously) who captioned it: ‘Invaders catching and killing gulls in broad daylight in “Modern England“. Get these backwards people out!’
Funnily enough, Nora is actually a member of the Seagull Appreciation Society on Facebook, and is understandably mortified about being framed as someone who would harm a seagull, let alone eat one.
She told Metro: ‘When I go out, people stare, and sometimes they say things. They shout I’m barbaric, that I’m a savage, that I’m a seagull eater.
‘But even if I wear a mask, people can tell who I am. I fear for my safety, but not only me, for other women that look like me.
‘They don’t like the way I look, what I wear and this is why they published lies about me.’
‘For me, anyone who hurts an animal cannot be trusted. This is sick.’

On the rescue, she said: ‘I didn’t want to leave him. He couldn’t fly high to the top of the building. People said I should leave him but I could tell the mum was crying.
‘On that day the man filming came out shouting in a really rude way. I didn’t like it, but at that time I was focusing on calming down the bird, and I thought maybe he’s just concerned.
‘So I did explain to him afterwards. “I’m helping him. I’m worried it will be hit by a car.”
‘They know I’m doing something good but they cut it out. They lied about me and they posted it and it went viral.’
I think we can all agree it’s absolutely diabolical of those guys to cut out the part where she explained what she was doing, and then stick the video online anyway knowing it would go viral. The clip has been watched over 3 million times now and most of that audience will probably never know the truth.
Even Tommy Robinson has left the clip up on his page, even though Community Notes has corrected his claim that Nora was going to make the seagull her dinner.
As for the seagull itself, a kind neighbour eventually assisted Nora in taking it back to its nest + mother using a ladder, so that’s good.
Nora adds: ‘For me they are a national British animal – the seagull. I haven’t seen them anywhere else. They are very special and they should be respected.’
For actual seagull abuse, meet the man who decapitated one in front of horrified onlookers after it stole a French fry from his daughter. He was jailed for 8 months.
