I can’t think of a grimmer, more miserable place for a zombie apocalypse to go down than 14th century Birmingham, and so it makes sense that Kakao Games and Ocean Drive Studio have selected the city as the backdrop for its upcoming PS5/Xbox/PC game. Here’s a look at the gameplay:
14th century? Looks like modern Birmingham to me, although I guess it hasn’t changed much over the centuries. In any case, it does looks very impressive and fun to play in a RDR2 meets Resident Evil sort of style. If the real thing legitimately looks and plays the way it does in the trailer, we could have a surprise hit on our hands later this year.
Here’s the synopsis via Bloody Disgusting:
Set in 14th-century Birmingham, England, God Save Birmingham sees you as the lone survivor of an undead plague that has besieged the medieval market town. As a result, you must forage for supplies, craft tools and weapons, as well as hunt for food, water, and shelter, with only your wits to protect you. All the while, the undead horde creeps closer.
With GTA 6 and the new Mafia game also set for release later in 2025, it could be quite the year for gaming. Players can get another look at God Save Birmingham in May at PAX East (May 8–11), where the devs will have a PAX-exclusive playable demo.
