The famous Aoshima island in Japan is a small place where cats outnumber residents by a long shot – six cats for every one person. Apparently over 100 cats habit the island, curling up in abandoned houses or lounging in the streets of this quiet fishing village.

So perhaps if you consider yourself a bit of a cat lady/lad and are feeling a bit lonely, then maybe think about this bad boy island for your next holiday destination. The reason for all the cats is due to a large stray cat population that has thrived as a result of the locals’ belief that feeding the moggies brings them good fortune and wealth. And in a way it has, because now they’ve got loads and loads of cats.

Well isn’t that just wonderful. Personally I’d like to see a ‘dog island’ although I can’t imagine that would happen as dogs are way too dependant on their owners, bless ‘em.

I wonder if anyone at that island would benefit from these devices that allows you to lick your cat without getting hair on your tongue? Probably not, because that’s fucking weird.
