Everyone knows that Pokémon Go is a revolutionary social phenomenon now, so I’m just going to skip that part of this article and head straight to the juice: its success might lead to a Game Of Thrones style real world app. Holy shit.

This is all just speculation at the moment but it’s definitely something that Niantic – the developers of Pokémon Go – definitely want to implement. In a recent interview with Gamespot, one of the California company’s product marketers, Archit Bhargava had the following to say:

We’re really trying to create the genre of real-world gaming.

No one’s really done this in a way that we were all excited about.

It’s all about getting people moving, getting them exploring the world around them.

We’re not that worried about the effect that each game might have on the other, but what we’re hoping is that with both these games, the overall appeal of real world games will increase.

There could be a board game you could make in the real world where people are capturing locations like Risk or something.

My personal fantasy is like a Game of Thrones game where Westeros is mapped out on Earth and you join House Stark or whatever.

Well, I’m fairly certain if they could roll it out before the end of the show in a couple of years that it would probably be even more popular than Pokémon Go, given how Game Of Thrones is pretty much the most popular thing in the history of forever. Might not be so hot if the show has finished by then though – probably best to aim for a launch date the same week as the premier of the final season.

Talking of which, did you know that the air date of season 7 has been delayed?
