The porn industry may not be something I’d want, say, a younger relative getting involved in, but most porn stars out there seem fairly happy to be making money and enjoying themselves, so fair play to them. I mean Carly Rae Summers seemed to be having a good time when we interviewed her, you know? I suppose for every Carly Rae Summers though there is undoubtedly a darker side to the business, which I perhaps hadn’t considered until I checked out this heartbreaking video from former porn star Angela Aspen.

It recounts her story during a ten year porn career which involved her making 40 hardcore movies. Unfortunately though, she couldn’t deal with the pressures of the industry and recounts how it pretty much destroyed her life as she spiralled into addiction and suicide attempts. It really is a pretty devastating account of the price you pay to get to the top, especially when she reveals that the reason that she first got involved with porn was because she couldn’t deal with the fact that she was raped when she was a 21 year old virgin. Really depressing stuff.

Angela left the industry in 2003 and now works delivering pizza, as well as campaigning against porn and educating young girls about the dangers of getting into it. I wouldn’t recommend getting into porn to anyone I know, but having seen this video it’s even more cemented into my brain how much of a bad idea it is.
