I was hardpressed to pick out which town I thought would be the ‘unhappiest in the UK’ when I saw the headline, but I’m not really that surprised that it’s somewhere like Boston on the east coast because there really isn’t a lot going on there.

Residents of the city are even more unhappy than usual too after the council completely scrimped on decorating the place for Christmas. They somehow decided that it made more sense to spend the £20,000 budge on a plastic tree rather than putting up any lights.
I don’t think I would be so assed about the Christmas lights myself, but I think I would question just how exactly they’ve managed to spend £20,000 on a fake Christmas tree. Surely that can’t cost that much and look so crap?
Chip shop worker Charlotte Heaton said the following about the city:
Boston is a s***hole. I would love to leave but I can’t leave because my family are here. Who would be happy living here?
There’s nothing for the kids to do and the only park in town is full of broken play equipment. It can be an intimidating place.
On days off there’s nowhere to go, nothing to do so we end up going for treat days to Nottingham. I’ve lived here all my life and the only reason I stay is because my parents are still here.
They’ve spent more than £20,000 on a plastic tree which is a huge amount of money. The council is failing to achieve things they should be achieving, and they’ve behaved like Scrooge this year over the tree.
Electrical companies offered to donate new lights and shops have said they’d chip in to help pay for electricity but it was still no, no, no. People are really disappointed.
I guess when you haven’t got that much to be happy for then something like this really is a punch in the gut. Hopefully the council sort something out for them or in Charlotte’s case, she gets the hell out of there permanently soon. Something really needs to be done because it just does not look like a good time up there.
