The sweet old man from Squid Game has been indicted on charges of sexual misconduct after he allegedly touched a woman inappropriately, reports KoreaJoonGangDaily.

Oh Yeong-su, 78, was indicted by South Korean prosecutors this week after a complaint by a woman claiming the Golden Globe winner touched her inappropriately in mid-2017. The actor denies the accusations, which were made to the police in December 2021.

Yeong-su has previously spoken about the allegations, saying last year that he had ‘held hands with the woman to show the way around a lake’. Despite this, he issued an apology to the woman, insisting he’d done so because the woman said ‘she wouldn’t make a fuss about it’ and stressed that an apology ‘doesn’t mean that I admit the charges’.

This could rule him out of Squid Game season 2, even though [spoiler alert] he died at the end of the first one. Even still, Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyu had suggested he was bringing Yeong-su back for the second season, which was confirmed to be in the works last year.

This indictment means the actor will go to court to face a trial for the charges, so we can only hope for a fair and just verdict at the end of it. Imagine being #MeToo’d at 78 years of age? At least Hugh Hefner was lucky enough to kick the bucket before it became a thing.
