Rishi Sunak came out with the latest in a long line of dumb policy ideas from the incumbent Tory government yesterday when he announced that he wanted to make maths compulsory in schools up until the age of 18, presumably in an attempt to turn the country into a bunch of data scientists and computer engineers.

A whole bunch of memes and criticism of the idea appeared on social media over the past 24 hours, but the best response probably came in the form of this foul mouthed rant from Simon Pegg that he posted on his Instagram stories.

Take a look below and see what you think, although obviously there’s gonna be a bunch of swear words in it so don’t bother if you’re easily offended. Or if you think the current Conservative government is doing a good job.

So Rishi Sunak, our unmandated, unelected prime minister twice removed, has decided it should be compulsory for children to learn Maths up until the age of 18 – what a prxck.

What about arts and humanities and fostering this country’s amazing reputation for creativity and self-expression?

What about that? What about the kids that don’t want to do Maths? I hated Maths. I dropped Maths as soon as I could and I’ve never needed it other than the skillset I acquired at the age of 12.

But no. Rishi Sunak wants a fxcking drone army of data-entering robots. Fxck the Tories.

He’s got a point there hasn’t he? It also seems fairly clear to me that forcing everyone to study maths up until the age of 18 probably isn’t going to create the culture that Sunak craves either, as it’s more likely to just make people resent the subject even more. I did maths until A Level and enjoyed it too, so I’m not even coming at this policy as a person who didn’t enjoy the subject like Simon Pegg. Just think that it’s idiotic.

It’s just a ridiculously tone deaf idea from the Prime Minister yet again. What should we expect at this point though?

For more of the same, check out Simon Pegg recreating an iconic ‘Shaun Of The Dead’ scene for his Christmas message. That’s more like it.
