At a council meeting on March 5, 2008, Ford said, “Those Oriental people work like dogs. They work their hearts out. They are workers non-stop. They sleep beside their machines. That’s why they’re successful in life. I went to Seoul, South Korea, I went to Taipei, Taiwan. I went to Tokyo, Japan. That’s why these people are so hard workers (sic). I’m telling you, the Oriental people, they’re slowly taking over.” He went on to apologise for saying “Orientals” but said he stands by the sentiment!

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford

After election to the role of Mayor things didn’t get any better. If anything they have been slowly getting worse as anyone who follows the news will know.

At the thin end of the wedge he’s got himself in trouble for reading and using his mobile whilst driving. As mayor he’s allowed to have a driver, but true to form he doesn’t want to impact on the good citizens hard earned money, so refuses to have one.

Rob Ford - Toronto Canada Mayor - knock out

His drunken antics have been well documented by now, and despite a video of him doing crack and many, many drunken sightings he refuses to stand down. He said “I have no reason to resign”. He’s had all of his powers stripped from him and his staff have been moved over to his Deputy’s control, but he will not budge, and you kind of have to admire that.

His crack video and drunken buffoonery have been well covered elsewhere in the hallowed pages of SC so I’ll simply leave you with some of his magnificent quotes on the next page…
