Through Sick Chirpse I learned of the awesomeness of the Turntable Asylum, a guy who is so into his extensive record collection that he’s taken to posting it on Tumblr. Since then I’ve been on the lookout for other people’s eccentricities that were amazing in their obsessiveness.

And at last, I have found one. A gamer from the states, who goes by the name of Ahans76, has collected every single Playstation 2 game ever released in North America. With a collection that started off with Ridge Racer 5 (bought by his mum in a package deal with a shiny new Playstation 2), Ahans76 has amassed a collection of over 1850 games. His girlfriend must love him…

Quite a collection, it’s understandable to collect the amazing games for Playstation 2 like the Final Fantasy series, Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil but there have been some truly terrible games like Superman Returns. Good, bad and the ugly, this obsessed gamer has them all.

Not only does he have a shit load of Playstation 2 games, the majority of them are in mint condition, unopened and still sealed… This to me says more about OCD than avid gamer, I have to wonder if he bought multiple copies of the ones he liked so he could play them and keep the collection. If not his gaming repertoire must be pretty limited.

The whole collection is said to be valued at around £40,000 which I had great fun flaunting to my mum who always told me my video games were worthless. However the hoarding isn’t done for Ahans76, after snapping up the last game of his collection (Moto GP for a fiver on Ebay) it’s on to collecting the entire catalogue of PSP and Neo Geo games.

I’m sure we’ll hear from Ahans76 again in about 10-15 years when he’s completed his collection for newspapers, licence plates and road signs that will surely envelope his house. But in the mean time, if anyone in the States wants to borrow a Playstation 2 game, any Playstation 2 game maybe you should drop Ahans76 an email. I’m sure he would share…
