Mum Insisted Someone Lived In Her Loft For Months Before Police Found A Man
A mum from Kent was put on anti-psychotic medication because she kept insisting there was a man in her loft. Two months later, the police found that there was indeed a man secretly living up there.
Chloe, 31, from Gravesend, was accused of hallucinating and repeatedly dismissed as ‘crazy’ after telling friends and mental health professionals that there was a man in her loft.
The mum, who lived in the top-floor apartment, noticed her loft hatch mysteriously open and began hearing footsteps and “someone looking at her” from the attic.
Chloe explained on TikTok: ‘I rang my friend who lived below me in the flats and told her there’s someone in my flat.’

‘No one would believe me. I’m laying in bed that evening, I’m hearing footsteps and someone up there.
She was told it was ‘the voices in your head’, and eventually her friends decided she was having a psychotic episode. She agreed to see a professional, who prescribed her anti-psychotic medicine, which made her feel like ‘a zombie.’
Two months later, Chloe saw this person ‘opening the latch blatantly in front of my eyes one night and staring at me.’
She ran out of the flat and rang the police who came round to investigate. Sure enough, they found this guy living in her loft. Might’ve been a good idea to ring the police the first time around?
Chloe said: ‘There was someone there. He was living there and he had loads of bags and backpacks, and he came down. And at this point, all my friends and neighbours from the other flats thought “oh my God, it’s actually true”.’
The guy turned out to be a friend of a neighbour’s, who Chloe reckons allowed him to sneak up there.
‘He put him there and was giving him food, and that’s why he was talking down to everyone saying “I can’t hear anything,” and he knew there was someone there.’
I’m not sure how this would work unless the flats have interconnected lofts, which would be weird, and also wouldn’t explain why Chloe found her own latch open. Unless this guy was being creepy and sneaking down into her home when she wasn’t there?
In fairness to Chloe’s friends and those who doubted her, she does admit she was dealing with PTSD and mental health issues at the time, so it’s not completely unfair to assume she was losing her marbles.
Still, if she was a little more proactive, she could have worked out the truth without going through all that drama. I don’t know why the hell she didn’t ask anyone to check so she could have some peace of mind? Well, at least she knows for next time.
