A Mother Fined For Visiting Tesco Twice In One Day Has Started One Woman Boycott

We all know that it was the Easter bank holiday over the weekend, so obviously a large proportion of the country decided to celebrate by getting angry about stuff that they don’t really have control over and don’t really need to get super angry over either.

47 year old Emily Smith visited her local Tesco in Dover in Kent one morning last week to do some shopping, then popped back later that night to pick up some fuel. Unfortunately for her, she ended up receiving a parking fine because the security cameras didn’t catch her leaving so thought that she had been parked at the supermarket for ten hours. Oops.

Anyway, instead of just complaining and getting her parking fine revoked, Smith has instead decided to go to the press and start a one woman boycott of the store. Here’s what she had to say:

We are being treated like criminals, there is no innocent until proven guilty.

We have now found some proof because we use a tracking app with my eldest.

It’s bonkers, and trying to prove where we were is quite hard.

I am deeply disappointed in Tesco – I am not going to risk being their customer again.

I’m worried that this is going to happen to other people who may just pay the charge because it is really quite frightening.

When my husband called Tesco, he was told “our cameras do not lie” – we were basically accused of lying.

We had to give our time and energy to get this resolved when we did not do anything wrong.

I think it is a money-making tool for Tesco and the parking company. Because you are told the fine is less if you pay within 28 days, most people will pay it because they don’t want the hassle.

People need to know they have the choice to shop somewhere that will not fine them if they visit more than once in a day.

Geez. I get that this is probably an annoying problem for Smith but she really does sound like a busybody trying to get other people to boycott the store as well. Doesn’t really sound like she’s going to get anyone to do that either so it’s kind of pointless on her behalf.. People are just gonna go there if it’s their local store or whatever because stuff like this hardly ever happens and is quite clearly just a mistake. Sort it out and move on.

In addition to this, Tesco have also released a statement saying that they’ve now cancelled the fine, so I’m not really sure why Smith has such a vendetta against the store? Get a positive hobby or something and stop crying about everything like it’s the end of the world. Just a simple mistake that was fairly easily rectified, no need to make a massive drama about it hey?

For more of the same, check out this woman who boycotted KFC after she ate a chip that tasted like poo. Good one.
