The Jay Slater saga ended a year ago, but the inquest into the British teenager’s death in Tenerife is still ongoing. Well, I say it’s ongoing, but it’s actually been adjourned because they can’t track down the key witnesses. One of the missing witnesses, Jay’s pal Lucy Mae Law, apparently didn’t even realise she was due to testify and was on holiday (in Tenerife, funnily enough) when proceedings began.

In any case, previously unseen footage from the night Jay Slater went missing has now surfaced, and it shows the 19-year-old bragging about taking a £12,000 watch while ‘off his undies’ in a car with convicted drug dealer Ayub Qassim before his death. Watch below:

So this appears to back up the findings from Madeleine McCann investigator Mark Williams-Thomas. who did reveal during his investigation that Jay Slater had stolen a £12,000 Rolex and was trying to sell it just hours before he went missing.

At the time, Williams-Thomas had not been able to verify that the Rolex theft took place, but said Jay Slater’s pals had assured him that the missing teenager would not have made it up.

According to Williams-Thomas, shortly before 6am, Jay left the Veronicas strip where he had been partying with friends on the last night of the three-day NRG festival in Tenerife’s Playa de las Americas resort. He and the two men – including the aforementioned drug dealer – made an hour-long journey on the motorway back to an Airbnb.

Unseen videos show Jay Slater bragging about ?12k Rolex that he 'took off some c***' in car with convicted drug dealer while 'off his undies' hours before his death

It was during this journey that Jay Slater sent the Snapchat claiming he had stolen someone’s Rolex.

The caption reads: ‘Just took a 12k rolly of some c*** with this Mali kid off to get 10quid for it now haha off my undies.’

A second picture from the same time adds: ‘Yes cuz ended up getting thrown out of there me with 2 maili kids just took an AP off some c*** on way to sell it for 10 quid.’

Interestingly, Spanish police previously said they were investigating a fight outside Papagayo Beach Club, where Jay was seen partying the night he went missing. It’s believed the fight involved an Eastern European guy whose Rolex had been stolen.

A friend of Jay’s did give evidence at the hearing about messages he received from him, including one where he mentioned being ‘thrown out’ of the rave and trying to sell a watch for £10,000.

Joshua Forshaw said Jay appeared to be ‘off his head on drugs’ on the night before his death, June 16.

Jay Slater inquest told police 'can't find' his 'best friend' Lucy Law

Later that night Forshaw said he received a Snapchat message from Jay about plans to sell a watch for ‘ten quid’. Forshaw said that meant £10,000.

The inquest also heard from Forshaw that Jay sent him another image showing his top pulled up and two knives in his waistband.

At the same time through Snapchat he said Jay texted him: ‘I’m carrying these in case it kicks off.’

And so, that’s where we’re at now as new summons are being made to ensure Jay’s friends and other witnesses actually turn up to Preston Coroners’ Court so that the inquest can continue. The working theory is that Jay Slater died after ‘falling from a height’ while getting lost on his way back to his accomodation, which is consistent with the severe injuries he sustained to his skull and pelvis.

Preston Coroner’s Court also heard during the inquest that Jay was found to have MDMA, cocaine and alcohol in his system.

No word on where the Rolex ended up or if it was even found, so maybe that’s something they’ll come to later. Perhaps the original owner never followed it up with police, for some reason…?
