Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars was one of the biggest and most bizarre moments of the year and it was kind of strange that Will finally decided to offer a public apology to Rock in a video message over the weekend.

Why now? Why wait that long?

I’m not sure if I have the answers to those questions, but one person who doesn’t seem to care either way is Chris Rock himself, who an insider revealed had no intention of reaching out to Chris:

Will would love nothing more if Chris publicly accepted his apology, but Chris has no plans to reach out to Will.

Will timed the apology video to act in his own best interests, coming just after he resigned from the Academy.

He needs the public’s forgiveness, not Chris.

I suppose that is true, but Chris’ public fogiveneness would probably help with that hey? Chris also sort of addressed the situation but not really in one of this stand up routines on Saturday night, saying the following:

Everybody is trying to be a… victim.

If everybody claims to be a victim, then nobody will hear the real victims.

Even me getting smacked by Suge Smith…I went to work the next day, I got kids.

Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face.

Not really sure what he’s trying to say there at all, but it doesn’t look like the issue between these two men is going to be resolved any time soon. Can’t really see either of them adding anything useful to the story either at this point, but I’m sure Will Smith at least is probably going to try in the future. We’ll see how that works out.

For more of the same, check out when Will Smith made fun of a bass player with alopecia. Not the best video to resurface hey?
