A Chinese female streamer reportedly lost 140,000 followers after the beauty filter she was using malfunctioned during a livestream and revealed her real face.
The streamer lost a significant portion of her core fanbase and all the donations that go with it:

That’s the thing with filters and AI and such – you can never really trust them, even when you’re the person using them and especially when you’re using them live. Although I guess it did work long enough to rack up hundreds of thousands of followers before brutally glitching on her mid-livestream.
Imagine how gutted you would be if you donated money to this person? Literally false advertising.
It’s not the first time this has happened either. Back in 2019, another prominent Chinese streamer, ‘Your Highness Qiao Biluo’, had her filter fail mid-stream and revealed to be a 58-year-old woman, rather than a girl in her 20s:
Diabolical. Maybe we should just criminalise filters at this point? Only way to be sure you aren’t being duped online in 2026.
