It’s been a big week for Brits being busted abroad with copious amounts of drugs on them.

This time it’s the turn of Sam Dorman, 33, from Glossop, Derbyshire, who was allegedly found with £2,000 worth of cocaine in Dubai. Now obviously it’s a bad idea to get caught with £2,000 of cocaine anywhere in the world, but Dubai? Probably one of the last places you want to get caught with class A’s (or B’s, or C’s for that matter).

Barber and tattoo artist Sam  was allegedly in possession of half a gram of cocaine when he was arrested, but Dubai police then discovered a further 28 grams at his property.

A source said Dorman's family were 'understandably distraught' after the tattoo artist was locked away in the 'hellhole' prison

In the UK that would be worth around £2,000, but in Dubai it could fetch up to 3x more.

Dad-of-one Sam, who migrated to Dubai in 2022 to start a business, has already been to court and sentenced to 40 YEARS in prison, according to The Sun. Clearly, they are not messing about out there whatsoever when it comes to possession of drugs/drug dealing.

Sam is now being held at Al-Awir Central Prison, on the outskirts of Dubai, which is notorious for its filthy conditions and violent inmates.

A source told The Sun:

“He’s got a young daughter in the UK, so to be serving 40 years is really sad.”

“He won’t be out till he’s in his 70s.”

“The prison’s a hellhole and Sam’s family are understandably distraught.”

“When they spoke to him, it looked like he’d taken a battering. I just hope someone can help him.”

Last Monday the barber and tattoo artist was sentenced to 40 years behind bars at Al-Awir Central Prison, infamous for its poor conditions and brutality

Sam is thought to have been arrested after selling cocaine to a customer. The source added:

“He got in with the wrong crowd. Sam apparently sold coke to a customer who was pulled over and arrested by police.

“They took his phone and messaged Sam pretending to be the buyer and asked for more. Sam stupidly went and the police were waiting. At this point he was nabbed.”

Absolutely gutting, but that’s the risk you run selling drugs in a country where there’s a strict zero-tolerance policy. What the hell was he thinking? Especially with a young daughter back home in the UK.

Of course, I’m sure there’s no shortage of major criminals/drug dealers living it up in Dubai, but I suppose the secret is to be filthy rich and/or supremely discreet about it. Now he’s doing 40 years in prison and won’t be out until he’s an old man. His daughter will be older than he is now, with a family of her own. As if that’s not bad enough, the prison he’ll be spending that time in is an absolute hell-hole, by all accounts. Better start making some buddies in there quick, I think.

The Foreign Office said: “We are supporting a British man detained in Dubai.”

Let’s see what they can do about it. Spoiler = F all.
