A Woman From The UK Had Her Dog’s Ashes Mixed Into Her Eyeliner Tattoo As Tribute To Her Pet
A British makeup artist has had her recently deceased dog’s ashes mixed into an eyeliner tattoo and says she now has clients asking her to do the same with their own pets’ ashes.
Claire Hobson has gone viral for tattooing her late Jack Russell terrier’s ashes into her eyelids so he could “see the world through her eyes”.
She told People.com that tattooing her dog’s ashes into her eyeliner ensures her beloved pet is with her even after death, allowing her to keep his memory intimate and close.

She did note on VICE that the eyeliner is semi-permanent and will last for a few years, so I guess that makes it a little less bizarre, but she also plans to add more of the late dog’s ashes during future touch-up sessions.
How did she even come up with this idea? Well, she was set to move to Dubai when Patch, her dog of 20 years, died. Patch was subsequently cremated, but Hobson thought that putting his ashes in a suitcase felt wrong.
The day she picked up the ashes was the same day that she was due to have her eyeliner tattooed, and so a lightbulb suddenly went off in her head – why not mix Patch’s ashes with the tattoo ink?
Claire says: “Just live authentically for yourself. If it makes you happy, and you’re not doing anything to hurt anybody in the process. If that brings you a bit of peace and comfort, then go with it.”

Fair enough, really. It turns out it was a pretty good business move also because she’s now been inundated with requests from other grieving pet owners wanting the same procedure.
I guess turning ashes into jewelry has gone out of fashion? Well, it’s probably a fair bit more expensive, to be fair.
