Will Smith was giving an interview on BBC Radio 1Xtra earlier then he joked that he and wife Jada Pinkett “might have gone too far” with their hands-off parenting style when raising son Jaden and daughter Willow.

Smith was asked whether he consciously allowed his kids “a lot of freedom of expression”.

Smith answered:

Yeah, I think it may have been a mistake. I think we may have gone too far.

The show’s host A. Dot followed up:

How do you respond then, for example, if you encourage them to have freedom of expression and then people will start making jokes about say, Jaden modelling women’s clothes. How do you, as a dad, handle that?

Smith responded:

There’s a really powerful internal quality as an artist that as parents we encourage.

Jaden is 100 percent fearless, he will do anything. So as a parent it’s scary, it’s really terrifying — but he is completely willing to live and die by his own artistic decisions and he just doesn’t concern himself with what people think.

Really Will? You reckon? I mean I’m no parent but pretty sure I don’t want my future kids rocking up to weddings in their Batman costumes. That’s the kind of thing that happens when you encourage your kids to stand out too much. They go on insane Twitter rants that make no sense. They start to think that they’re way more important than everyone else. They start comparing themselves to Galileo. Time to pack his little arse up and send him to boarding school I think.

P.S. Doesn’t matter how insufferable Jaden Smith is, his dad was always be the fucking man.
