There’s always a danger when you order something online that there could be some serious fuckups with it getting to you, in terms of it not arriving or them sending you the wrong thing. But I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a screw up as big as the one in this story.

UPS are the parcel service in question, and they managed to royally screw up by mixing up the orders for an assault rifle and a children’s Christmas present. 66-year-old Joel Berman opened up the keyboard shaped box at his house in Long Island on Wednesday night, only to discover that it contained a massive gun in place of the toy plane that he was expecting to find. To make matters even worse, his 6-year-old granddaughter was present too.

The gun came alongside a bunch of accessories like a scope, a stand, an ammo clip, alongside copies of an Arizona men’s driver’s license and concealed-weapons permit. That’s a long way from its intended destination. Herman’s granddaughter was pretty unhappy about it too when the package turned out to be a gun and not the toy plane the couple had ordered for her.

They phoned the police who shortly came over to collect it and then complained to UPS about the incident, but are yet to hear back from them. Hope they manage to get them some compensation and the plane in time for Christmas.
