Every year a group of celebrated rock artists get inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and the list of nominations is normally announced in the run up to Christmas. This year is no different although one inductee might raise a few eyebrows: Tupac Shakur.

Tupac obviously isn’t a ‘rock and roll’ artist in the traditional sense, but I don’t think anyone can deny the impact that he had on popular music during his short time on this planet, so I think it’s a fair choice. I’m sure a few people out there won’t be happy about this, although I think they will be outnumbered by the people who will praise the decision.

If anyone is really angry though, they can just look at the list of other artists heading into it this year and they’ll probably be relieved that the committee isn’t diverting too much from traditional rock music. Joan Baez, Electric Light Orchestra, Pearl Jam, Yes and Journey will all be honoured at the ceremony on April 7th in Brooklyn next year, with Nile Rodgers also picking up an award for musical excellence. Don’t stop believing basically.

For more Tupac, check out his final words that were revealed by an ex cop a couple of years ago. Couldn’t be more apt.
