We all know that we shouldn’t really watch porn because it facilitates the abuse of women, it desensitises us to real sex etc. etc. However, we all watch it anyway because sometimes you want to quickly bust one out without having to spend ages imaging some sort of sexy scenario in your head. It does all the hard work so you don’t have to.

However, if you think that you might be spending too much time browsing through the depths of PornHub, or even if you don’t think you watch too much porn but you suspect that other people might consider your watching habits to be a bit extreme, then this test will help you determine whether you’re a full blown porn addict or not.

Although a porn addiction might seem like a relatively harmless problem, it can cause serious issues in life and relationships if it’s not dealt with properly. The test was first published in Men’s Health, and sexologist and sex addiction specialist Paula Hall recommends taking it to see if you need to seek professional help. It’s pretty simple – just answer the questions honestly and total up your score at the end:

Do you spend more than 11 hours a week viewing porn?

Never: 0
Occasionally: 1
Often: 2
Most of the time: 3

Does your porn viewing have a negative impact on your relationship with your partner?

Now that you’ve answered the questions and tallied up your score, here’s what it all means:

Under 8 – no need to stress because you’re not a porn addict.

9-15 — Your porn habit is bordering on being “problematic”—so use this as a time to get a grip! Cut back a bit.

16-20 — “You almost definitely have a porn addiction, and it’s likely that you’ve struggled for quite some time to stop it,” says Hall. If you’re already noticing that porn is having a negative impact on your life, your relationships, or your sexual functioning, now is the time to do something about it. Hall recommends seeking out a 12-step group like Sex Addicts Anonymous or making an appointment to see a sex addiction therapist.

20+ — “If you’ve scored over 20 and haven’t tried to get help yet, please do so today,” says Hall. At this point, Hall says, your addiction is likely robbing you of reaching your goals and enjoying partnered sex. “This is a problem you can beat, and the sooner you take action, the sooner you can get on with your life.”

So there you have it. If you’re watching people having sex more often than you’re doing it yourself then it might be time you sought the help of professionals before it starts seriously affecting your life.

While we’re on the topic, here are five telltale signs that you masturbate too much.
